#21589 Few fixes

Posted by dargre on 14 March 2016 - 03:19 PM

Sometimes this can be serious issue....

For all ajax php file system doesn't load config file, doesn't load debug file with display_errors status.

So every ajax file may show php notices, warnings, depreciated etc. This can break ajax response, nothing will show on website for ajax actions. Most often this may concern related videos, though not only.

Fix is simple, just edit file "ajax.php" and above line:

require 'include/config.paths.php';

enter

ini_set('display_errors', 0);

Another bug found in ajax "related_videos.php" concerns max total of related videos.

File video.php sets it to 32, but related changes it to 80. Should be same.

Line:

$total          = ( $total > 80 ) ? 80 : $total;

should be:

$total          = ( $total > 32 ) ? 32 : $total;

Big issue is also for those who upgraded from 3.0 or 3.1 to 3.2 or 3.3

New URL for each category is duplicated. Old URL like  "videos?c=2" is still working and indexed by search engines.

This also concerns AVS demo website.

Of course this can be fixed using proper redirection, but it's not 1 or 2 lines of code to have it properly, additionally different for each of 3 types of categories. I don't use AVS script daily, but one of clients found it harmful for his website an asked to fix and so I did.

#20298 How to make users HAVING TO verify their email?

Posted by theone on 29 January 2014 - 04:01 AM

To make users not be able to login unless they have verified their email you can try......

Open login.php

Find....

            $password = md5($password);

Add below.....

            if ($user['0']['emailverified'] == 'no') {$errors[] = 'Please verify your account to login!';} else {

Find......

                        VRedirect::go($_URL);

                    } else {
                        $errors[] = $lang['login.invalid'];
                    }

Add below.....

}

This will display an error message to anyone who tries to login to an account that has not yet been verified.

#22053 Anyone interested in an avatar selector for signup page?

Posted by brianatthebeach on 30 August 2017 - 06:40 PM

I have designed an avatar selector for users to pick from a selection of avatars at signup or after signup. It uses cells that scroll left to right.

I am using avs 3.3 but I suspect it will work on some other versions with slight changes to what I have done.  It's useful for those that don't have or don't want to post a personal pic.  It works pretty good on both desktops and phones, when wrapped in the AVS css.  I hide the radio buttons and I highlight the avatar selected using css.

The mod is a little involved but I wouldn't mind a back and forth to help anyone add the mod.  If anyone is interested, I will post everything I did.  Hopefully, what I've done can be improved upon with feedback from the community.

My users are using it and seem to really like it.  A positive side effect is that I think I am seeing fewer fake account signups.  Spam accounts were greatly reduced after recaptcha 2 and after I added my own token in the page.  I think I still had a few fake accounts getting through but at this point it's zero fake accounts and it might due to the fact that the signup page is no longer a standard AVS signup page and no default avatar is chosen, you have to chose one or you get an error.

Right now I hard code everything into the css and signup.tpl, and user_avatar.tpl but we can easily automate and fill out the cells with some loops.

Below is an example.  The example really just demonstrates the scrolling left to right(shrink your browser window), shows how I highlight to select, and hiding the radio button.

http://brian-h.com/signup.html

You can stack multiple scrollable rows of avatars.  I envision multiple stacked rows where each row has different themes.

#21934 Video conversion tip

Posted by dargre on 28 December 2016 - 12:16 AM

I have noticed that many uploaded or grabbed h264/mp4 videos have General CodecID = 'isom'.

Unfortunately AVS script does not detect such codec id and always reconverts HD video, what is absolutely not necessary and takes most of conversion time.

For example every video grabbed from Pornub has General CodecId = "isom". Every Pornhub video is reconverted, including HD conversion. This is just waste of conversion time and resources, such HD video could be only copied as it's ready to use. Same concerns HD videos from many other sources.

You can extend detection of codec ID for "isom" type and your script will not reconvert HD video, just copy original mp4 file an save a lot of conversion time. Only video for mobile will be converted.

To do that you need to edit 2 files.

1. in file "/scripts/convert_videos.php" or "/scripts/convert_videos_ffmpeg.php"  find:

&& $vinfo['General_CodecID'] == "M4V"

Replace it to:

&& ($vinfo['General_CodecID'] == "M4V" || $vinfo['General_CodecID'] == "isom")

2. in file "/include/function_conversions,php" or "/include/function_conversions_ffmpeg,php" find :

&& $vinfo['General_CodecID'] == "M4V"

Replace it by:

&& ($vinfo['General_CodecID'] == "M4V" || $vinfo['General_CodecID'] == "isom")

This should save a lot of conversion time for many mp4 vidoes and avoid re-encoding HD video already fine for web streaming. Additionally if you look closer at some mp4 HD videos, eg. from Pornhub, they are reeally well compressed. If re-encoded the filesize is much bigger. But with tip above it stays original size.

#21875 Custom Video.js theme & plugin

Posted by dargre on 09 November 2016 - 10:36 PM

I do not recommend the extra mod anyad 10 € and is useless!

I do not recommend to sell anything to apple82 user.

His web experience, his English language are terrible.

You can repeat same thing dozen times to him and he won't understand.

You will not understand most of what he asks about.

He will abuse your service dozen times without a chance either to understand him or make him understand.

Finally he will request refund even if product delivered, and support offered according to simple requirements that he's not able to understand.

This is beyond all patience to support such such user so I am forced to deny further support for him.

It's not my intention to offend this user. Possibly he can be quite nice guy.

Unfortunately his web experience and terrible English exclude the possibility of rational and useful conversation.

#21861 AVS 4

Posted by theone on 31 October 2016 - 12:16 AM

They are likely trying to keep

What's the new features? I see mysql_real_escape_string still! :P

Looks like it's mainly the admin panel that was updated.

http://www.adultvide...oduct/features/

Anyway, IMHO any application that is not taking advantage of SPA design concepts is antiquated regardless of the solution stack version.

The concept of having the refresh the page every time the user requests new data is an ancient and inefficient concept. I have been developing a pure javascript video sharing app that pushes the templates and most of the logic onto the client. SPA's allow for faster content delivery and a much better user experience. It puts far less responsibility on the server so you can ultimately serve more users.

#21850 Custom Video.js theme & plugin

Posted by dargre on 09 October 2016 - 10:04 PM

There is no issue with progressbar generator for Video js player. This was already installed on few websites with AVS script and is working fine.

Most probably your problem is how you installed it. I know everyone says I did check everything twice, but it's really easy to miss one char one line and it's always same story.

Your problem is also your very limited English so it's often nto possible o understand what you write, or is not possible to understand what is written to you by you.

This is also your problem with understanding that multiservers are not used to store images, only videos. There is no option in AVS scrpt to store thumbs on multiservers,

There is really not much I can do with such user, that I can't understand most of what he tries to describe, and who is not able to understand what is explained to him and is also who is not going to use paid installation service.

#21670 AVS --> Single Page AJAX Application

Posted by theone on 18 April 2016 - 03:59 PM

I've been working on a major overhaul to AVS 3.3 for high profile client which involves converting the functionality of AVS into a single-page AJAX application.

Scripting entirely in AJAX allows for the site to load MUCH more quickly and efficiently as each piece of requested data is loaded only on demand without ever refreshing or leaving the landing page. This results in a more efficient and streamline user experience and videos are delivered almost instantaneously.

For example, if a user clicks a video then they are only served the video and if they want to view comments for a video that data is only retrieved when they click the comments button. This eliminates the need to retrieve / download data that is not specifically requested by the user. This all occurs while eliminating the need to refresh the page or download additional assets.

This also enables users to watch videos, upload content, or message with other users without ever leaving their search position on the site.

The entire site is still crawlable and uses clean, SEO friendly URL's (ie.  /videos/query=cute+kittens/o=mr/page=210/ ) with a hashtag fallback (though most browsers support pushState these days).

To get to the point, I am entertaining the idea of selling this application in very limited numbers (2-3 copies max) as opposed to selling the exclusive rights to my client. (This app would still require a valid AVS license).

If you're interested let me know and l can provide some additional specs.

This application utilizes all the latest web technologies in a format that really stands out from your average site while delivering content much faster than is possible with a traditional MVC application. It's very "lightweight" and fully responsive without the use of the clunky Bootstrap (BootCRAP as I like to call it).

Some of the many features I've added to this application include infinite scrolling, 'live' search, full-featured HTML5 player with playlist support / slow-motion , drag and drop uploading, front-end user video "grabbing", just to name a few.

#21614 Centos 7 and AVS 3.3 recommendation?

Posted by dargre on 22 March 2016 - 07:13 PM

Video streaming is not php related. It's server modules. If you desihoes recompiled Apache to some newer version this is obvious that streaming mods are gone. You should know what you do. Live headers shows clearly that streaming mods are not in use.

damien, so it's like I wrote. Few functions to fix and switch to mysqli.

All those php functions were already depraciated for PHP 5.4 though not affecting script usage.

Indeed not so much to update, but for most here it's just black magic.
