Hi everyone, I am experiencing mass spam attack from a few weeks now. I have no idea how do they pass the captcha, but obviously they do it. Once inside the site the bots fill in the profile info with links and do create Blogs!
Is there somebody who has a suggestion on how to stop the spam.

And my second issue is that all videos .WMV are not converting properly, they generate thumbs, you can hear the sound but no picture.

Any help will be appreciated

http://forums.adultv...light=recaptcha

On this page a user has post the instruction on how to apply recaptcha to signup feedback and invite is similar to those 2 as well.

please read them all.

don't forget to replace enter your public key and enter your private key with the keys!

m suggestion is to write a code that says you must wait 3 to 10 seconds depending on your needs to upload another video.

unless you have mass uploader they can upload 10 videos at same time but next attempt they must wait.

sometimes i think maybe they have to wait longer, like 5 minutes!

The best thing is to setup email system to send using SMTP of Gmail or Google Apps if you want;

Spam issue not solved!

I've integrated recaptcha but that worked great for a limited time only!

I'm having a constant issue with somebody that sign ups on my site and creates blogs or fake profiles just to a put a link on them. I have no idea how idiotic you got to be to do it since I delete the profiles and blog posts almost immediately. Sometimes he may create up to 40-50 fake profiles a night. Its getting pretty time consuming and I'm looking for a better way to solve the problem. I've tried to ban the IP addresses he's using but as you might guess he's always using different fake IPs.

Is there somebody else having the same problem?

Blocking temporary emails is a crucial step to preventing spam.

The mod I have would allow you to temporarily block hotmail accounts until the spammer disappears.

The default AVS code is an easy target for spam because it's open source and well known. It needs to be modified as I told you.

Good luck. PM me if your serious about making it stop.

I'll just bump this thread once again.

I'm still having the SPAM issue and it's been like that for a long, long time now! I've tried several ways to block the spammer but without any success.

The point is that he uses different IPs, different email addresses (yahoo, hotmail, outlook etc), always verifies his profiles which means that the email addresses are genuine.  I have installed the re-catcha but that didn't work as well.

I have no idea why on earth he's doing it but every day he registers approximately 20 new users, fills the profile info and that's that. I don't allow ahrefs on my site so all links that appear are just plain text.

None of the users he registers is tolerated more than a few hours. I do delete them almost immediately after registration.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

You'll need to look into proxy detection and ip range blocking.

You can add a snippet of code to your signup.php to check the user details againts the botscout api.  - http://botscout.com/api.htm

You may also create another required checkbox field under the existing age & terms checkbox, which needs to be toggled before the user is allowed to complete the signup process.  The makes your signup form less generic across avs usage.  You may even consider splitting your terms and privacy checkbox into 2 instead of 1.

A signup session is also a deterant where the signup form cant be resubmitted more than once in 5 seconds.

We have integrated Re-Captcha, KeyCaptcha and AreYouHuman and we now have zero spam on our demos and websites.

You can find the patches, along with instructions in your Client Area.

You can choose which one to install and use. We recommend AreYouHuman and KeyCaptcha.

I finally solved it! As once theone advised me I started blocking entire range of IPs and by using www.projecthoneypot.org it was extremely easy. Well yes you'll spent about a month to block 'em all but it's worthy. You'll have a spam free webpage.

So yes the first step shall be installing Re-captcha but if it doesn't work for you simply start banning entire IP ranges and eventually the spammer will give up.
